Based on the ideal gas law (pressure rises and falls with absolute temperature). As a rule of thumb, tires lose roughly 1 psi for every 10 °F drop, or about 0.1 bar for every 10 °C. Always check and adjust pressure when the tires are cold — before driving, or at least three hours after.
